On March 3rd 2012 a meteor was spotted over the UK. The Kielder Observatory in far northern England tweeted "HUGE FIREBALL spotted over Northumberland," then went on to tweet "Of 30 years observing the sky #fireball best thing I have ever seen period."

I was fortunate to see one a few years ago while driving one night with my sister and two others. We all saw it. It was the most amazing sight. It glided down slowly at an angle of about 45 degrees, alittle bigger than the full moon. The fireball had a little tail and you could see a blue rim of gas all around it. We went out to the area next day to try and find it but no luck. I knew it would be a needle in a haystack as it landed in a big field. I have to admit there was lots of cows in the field and I think I spent more time watching them than looking for the fireball! They do tend to follow you everywhere. Doesn't help when your slightly afraid of them.
